The core vision and priority of the Economics Department has been to provide quality learning in the core discipline with a multidimensional perspective and encourage the students to stretch beyond the confines of the given curricula and not to focus entirely on the proximate objective of the examination’s success.

The Department has a tradition of open interaction with the students. There is an environment of trust, openness and easy approachability to the faculty members.
Students are encouraged to approach teachers whenever they feel need. The students are encouraged to discuss not only the problems they face in their course material but also larger issues and questions they have in their minds.

Our vision has become muted in recent years due to a lack of students in core courses. This has posed a challenge before us. This challenge appears to be insurmountable due to some constraints. The panacea of these constraints seems to be elusive. Nevertheless, our Department will leave no stone unturned to encourage prospective students to take Economics as their core course.
