The journey of the department of Mathematics of Harimohan Ghose college began in the year 2001 with B.Sc. General course and later in the year 2003, an Honours course was introduced to the program. The department runs three-year Honours and General course under CBCS system, along with four-year Major and three- year MDC course under CCF system. The faculty members of the department intend to create a deep interest in students in learning mathematics, help them to develop the required knowledge and reach their full potential.The primary purpose of the department is to provide a positive learning environment that supports the students’ academic and professional achievement and to produce ample learning resources to meet their diverse needs. Evaluation of students’ progress is conducted through various type of tests, assignments and departmental seminar. Apart from the academic performances, the department emphasizes the participation of the students in extracurricular activities to elicit their excellence.
