Harimohan Ghose College’s Department of Commerce began operations in 1969 and was affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Initially, the college was only allowed to be affiliated with the B.Com. Pass programme. Later, in 1974, affiliation was also obtained for the B.Com. Honours Course. The faculty constantly seeks to improve the students’ education by implementing a variety of teaching and learning strategies. Graduates from our college currently hold a variety of jobs in reputable industries, including corporate, banking, and business.Because we are concerned with our students’ entire development, we encourage them to participate in a range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including NSS, games and sports, cultural events, and contests at the college and university levels. For project and practical work, we adhere to industry standard procedures and field visits. Remedial classes are provided to our ordinary students, and mentor and mentee interactions are used to track each student’s development. Two of our faculty members have already received their Ph.D.s, while three of them are now working towards it. By taking part in a variety of extracurricular activities, such as examination responsibilities, seminars on syllabus restructuring, workshops, seminars at the national and international levels, NSS and sports activities, e-content development, etc., our faculty members always strive to increase their knowledge. As a result, the Departments successfully helps students get ready for the workforce by providing them with opportunities to participate in training sessions led by professionals in the field, develop their leadership and personality, and enhance their skills generally through certification programmes. Students can also benefit from guest lectures, expert talks, workshops, field trips, and project tours. We also intend to offer our students top-notch internship opportunities.
